HOTSPOT: Mémé Gusta (Gent)

Gisteren heb ik, samen met een paar vrienden, voor het eerst voet gezet in Mémé Gusta. Bekend van mijn Pop-up restaurant en nu ook van hun eigen zaak in Gent. Dat ik er nog wel vaker zal binnenstappen, dat is nu al een vaststaand feit en wel om volgende redenen:
Nele is even vriendelijk, joviaal en goedlachs als op tv (wat eigenlijk geldt voor het hele zaalpersoneel) en geeft je meteen een thuisgevoel;
Het keukenpersoneel schotelt je in korte tijd de lekkerste gerechten voor;
Het stoofvlees in Meme Gusta is sinds gisteren de te kloppen kandidaat want die prijkt vanaf nu bij mij op nummer 1 (sorry papa ...);
Met wat geluk zit je aan het tafeltje naast de kachel die je meteen opwarmt als het buiten wat kouder is;
De soesjes zijn de calorieën meer dan waard;
Het interieur is super gezellig en doet heel erg huiselijk aan, wat in zo'n groot pand een erg mooie prestatie is;
De sfeer is er geweldig en zeer gemoedelijk. Heel erg à l'aise, maar op de meest professioneel mogelijke manier;
Wijn drinken was nog nooit zo fijn dankzij de heerlijk nostalgische wijnglazen - bijna wijnkuipen - waarin het drankje wordt geserveerd.
Ik kan natuurlijk nog ettelijke redenen neerschrijven, maar ik stel voor dat jullie zelf even langsgaan en ontdekken waarom dit één van de leukste en lekkerste plekjes is in Gent.

Yesterday was the first time I set foot in "Mémé Gusta" (literally translated: Nan Gusta) which rose to fame thanks to the tv-show: "My Pop-up Restaurant". That I'll be going there again in the future is a certain fact and this for the following reasons:
Nele is as friendly, jovial and attentive as shown on tv (which counts for the entire staff) which makes you feel at home right away;
The kitchen staff prepares the most delicious meals in no time;
The beef stew is the best I've had so far and is the one to beat since yesterday (sorry dad...);
If you're lucky, you'll be seated at the table right next to the stove that'll warm you in seconds on colder days;
The profiteroles are to die for;
The interior is super cosy and feels very home-like, something that's a big achievement is such a large building;
The atmosphere is fantastic and laid-back. Very much "à l'aise", but in the most professional way possible;
Having a glass of wine has never been more fun thanks to the amazingly nostalgic wine glasses in which they serve the drink.
I could go on for a longer time but I think it's nicer if you pay them a visit and discover why this is one of the nicest and most tasty places in Ghent.
